St Joseph's Institute for the deaf. Founded in 1837.

October 13, 2009

Stephanie asks everyday( with a teasing grin), "Can I go swimming today?" It is 45 degrees outside and the pool is closed. She is witty and has many ideas of fun things to do. Soccer, basketball, volleyball, bike riding, scooter riding, riding the go cart down the court, jump roping and dancing are just a sample of the things she loves doing and does well. Needless to say it takes Denny, Michael and myself to keep up with her as we tag team.

Stephanie has arrived!

On Octover 3, 2009, Stephanie and her mom flew in from Nigeria to start school at St. Joseph's Institute for the Deaf in Chesterfield, MO. Founded in 1837, this school is recognized as a leader in educating hearing impaired children and currently specializes in children with cochlear implants.
It was the start of a busy week. We shopped for winter clothes, completed school enrollment and attended first grade in Miss Julies classroom . Stephanie's classmates are Anthony, Frederick and Ashraff.
We are her host family, the Kramers. Denis, Betty & Michael will share our home with her while she is in the USA. Michael has become Stephanie's tutor assisting her each night with her homework. We have a large family. Her fun and energetic personality have certainly created a breath of fresh air to our home.
